You can talk. You can grumble. You can work quietly. What you won’t get — or give — is judgment of the work.

What this is

This is not a class and not a critique group. It’s a practice room. We meet online at a fixed time. You work in the presence of others. No one evaluates you or your work.

What happens in a session

  • Brief settling-in / light social warm-up
  • Quiet practice time (you work on your own)
  • No critique, no feedback, no “what do you think?”
  • Frustration is allowed. It’s often where learning starts.

The learning ethic

When your work frustrates you, ask: tragedy or tuition?

The goal isn’t “good work.” The goal is staying in contact with your own learning signals — without shame.

Who this is for

Good fit

  • You want a held time to practice
  • You do better with external scheduling
  • You don’t want feedback, critique, or accountability pressure
  • You want a shame-free place to return, even after gaps

Not a good fit

  • You want instruction or technique teaching
  • You want critique or reactions to your work
  • You want a performance space
  • You’re looking primarily for social connection (rather than practice)

  • Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the cohort/community.
